Most people in the security profession know the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP).
But this May marks something historic for our region…
For the first time, an ATAP training event will be held in Kentucky.
The 2026 Heartland Joint Threat Assessment Training (JTAT) is coming to Louisville, KY on May 20–21, bringing together threat assessment professionals from across the country to focus on one critical objective:
Preventing violence before it occurs.
This two-day event will explore practical, real-world approaches to:
▪ Behavioral Threat Assessment
▪ Workplace Violence Prevention
▪ Case-based learning and collaboration
▪ Cross-disciplinary response strategies
The training will be held at the University of Louisville Shelby Campus, and will also include an optional evening visit to Churchill Downs — a fitting Kentucky welcome for those traveling in.
Events like this are important because threat assessment works.
When professionals across security, HR, law enforcement, education, and behavioral health collaborate, we create stronger systems to identify and manage risk before it becomes tragedy.
If you work in:
Security | Threat Assessment | HR | Law Enforcement | Behavioral Health | Education - This will be a high-value training opportunity.
